The women’s rights group from Jaipur are calling on all residents, locals and media people to attend the protest and send a message that women who wish to pursue their own future and studies should be safeguarded and have a right to selfhood.
Jaipur: PUCL Rajasthan and various women’s rights groups from Jaipur are organizing a protest against the murder of young girls like Sanjali and Neha who were burnt alive for rejecting unwanted advances.
The protest is being held for women’s selfhood on Dec 28, Friday in front of Albert Hall in Jaipur, 4.30 pm onwards. The protest will be marked by poetry, songs, speeches and plays.
In Agra, Sanjali Chanakya was returning home after attending school when two bike-borne men doused her with petrol and set her on fire. In an eerily similar incident, a BSc second year student riding her scooty back home in Uttarakhand tried resisting rape when she too was doused in petrol and set on fire by a taxi driver. Both breathed their last in Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi.
