An FIR has been filed by the Ghaziabad Police in Uttar Pradesh against Mohammed Zubair, co-founder and editor of Alt News, following tweets he posted about far-right Hindu priest and hate offender Yati Narsinghanand. The complaint was lodged on October 7, 2024 by Bharatiya Janata Party leader Dr. Udita Tyagi at Kavi Nagar police station. Tyagi, who is also the General Secretary of the Yati Narsimhanand Saraswati Foundation and an independent director at hydropower PSU SJVN, was part of a group of more than 100 people who protested outside the Ghaziabad Police Commissioner’s office to demand action against Zubair for his social media posts against Narsinghanand and sought clarification about the priest’s whereabouts.

Details about the FIR filed against Zubair

It is to be noted that the FIR was filed two days after protests against Narsinghanand for making anti-Islamic comments against Prophet Mohammad had taken place at the Dasna temple, where Narsinghanand serves as the head priest. Tyagi, in her complaint, had accused Zubair of sharing edited video clips of Narsinghanand’s speeches on social media, allegedly to provoke violence by Muslims against the priest. She claimed that Zubair posted a video from an old program of Narsinghanand on October 3, which, she said, was aimed at stirring unrest. According to Tyagi, Zubair’s posts on October 4 and 5 escalated tensions and nearly led to an attack on the Dasna temple. Tyagi also stated that she was present with Narsinghanand at the temple during the alleged attack and that they barely escaped due to police intervention. It is to be pointed that a total of ten people have been arrested by the police after the protest allegedly turned violent.

“He posted a series of videos on October 4 and 5, leading to an attempt to ‘attack’ the Dasna Devi temple. I was present with Yati at the temple and we barely escaped. Had the police not intervened, the situation would have gotten out of hand,” Tyagi alleged in her complaint, as per Times of India.

As per a report of Indian Express, Tyagi further alleged in her complaint that Zubair’s posts included derogatory references to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, BJP MLA Nand Kishore Gurjar, and herself. As a result, she claimed to have received death threats on social media. The FIR against Zubair has been filed under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including promoting enmity between religious groups, fabricating false evidence, criminal intimidation, and defamation. The Times of India report has stated that Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Mishra confirmed that an investigation is underway and assured that action would be taken against those using social media to incite violence.

In response to the FIR, Zubair expressed disappointment and claimed that the Ghaziabad Police registered the complaint without proper verification. Speaking to The Indian Express, Zubair noted that other journalists had reported similar content, yet he was singled out, suggesting that the FIR against him was intentional. Notably, apart from Zubair, the FIR also names AIMIM leader and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, as well as prominent Muslim cleric Arshad Madni.

“It is unfortunate,” said Zubair, while talking to The IE.

On October 7, members of Hindu groups had also submitted a memorandum to the Ghaziabad Police Commissioner, demanding action against those they alleged had attacked the Dasna temple during the protest on October 6.

Brief about the Yati Narsinghanand controversy

Yati Narsinghanand, the head priest of the Dasna Devi temple in Ghaziabad, has been at the centre of multiple controversies due to his inflammatory remarks, particularly against the Muslim community. He is known to be a habitual hate offender. The present issue erupted due to one of Narsinghanand’s speeches, which was delivered on September 19 at an event in Hindi Bhavan in Ghaziabad. As per reports, Narsinghanand made derogatory statements and blasphemous remarks against Prophet Muhammad during his hate speech. In a provocative statement, he encouraged people to burn effigies of the Prophet instead of Ravana, a comment that led to widespread anger among the Muslim community.

Muslim organizations across the country have been calling for Narsinghanand’s arrest, citing his repeated hate speech and efforts to incite communal violence. Narsinghanand’s inflammatory remarks led to protests outside the Dasna temple on October 6, with a large crowd gathering to express their outrage. Following the protest, security around the temple was significantly increased. Multiple FIRs were filed against Narsinghanand, including in Ghaziabad, Telangana, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, and other states. Section 302 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with the offence of uttering words or making sounds to intentionally hurt someone’s religious feelings, has been invoked against Narsinghanand. Section 299 (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings), and Section 197 (acts that harm national integration) have also been included in the FIR.

Hyderabad police lodged a complaint after AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi urged authorities to take action and demanded social media platforms remove the hate speech. Despite the growing number of complaints, police have not confirmed whether Narsinghanand has been detained, though several reports, including those The Indian Express, suggest he may have been taken into custody.

Several of Narsinghanand’s disciples, including Anil Yadav Chota Narsimhanand, Yati Ran Singhanand, Yati Ram Swaroopanand, and Yati Nirbhayanand of the Dasna temple, have also been implicated in making objectionable remarks. These comments were captured on video and circulated online, leading to an additional FIR being filed at the Wave City police station under Sections 302 (punishment for intentionally hurting someone’s religious feelings) and 351 (criminal intimidation) of the BNS. While the outrage over Narsinghanand’s statements continues to spread, demands for his arrest remain unmet, despite mounting pressure from several state governments and religious organizations.

]]>
On July 7, in the case of Shachi Nelli vs Yati Narsinghanand @ Deepak Tyagi, the Supreme Court of India issued notice in a contempt petition against Hindutva leader Yati Narsinghanand that had been filed after he had made insulting and disparaging remarks about the Supreme Court and the Constitution of India during an interview, the video of which had gone viral on the internet. The controversial religious figure with a divisive ideology, notorious for his diatribe against Muslims and women, is facing scrutiny for his comments suggesting that the Constitution would “consume” Hindus in the country.

The said petition, filed by activist Shachi Nelli, was being heard by a division bench of Justices AS Bopanna and MM Sundresh. Notably, activist Shachi Nelli had filed the petition, seeking consent from the Attorney-General to initiate contempt proceedings against Narsinghanand. Nelli had argued that Narsinghanand’s remarks undermined the authority of the Supreme Court and interfered with the course of justice. Consent for contempt proceedings was granted by the Attorney-General in response to Nelli’s letter.

It is essential to note that although the bench agreed to issue notice to the respondent and seek his response, no returnable date was given.

Brief of the letter sent by activist Shachi Nelli:

In January 2022, activist Shachi Nelli had written to the Attorney-General of India seeking consent to initiate contempt proceedings against this Meerut-born priest, Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati, alias Deepak Tyagi, who is also an accused in Haridwar ‘Dharam Sansad’ hate speech case, over his ‘derogatory’ remarks against the Constitution and the Supreme Court.

In the viral interview, when he was asked about the court proceedings in the ‘Dharam Sansad’ case, Yati Narsinghanand had allegedly said that the Constitution will ‘consume’ the 100 crore Hindus in the country and those who believe in this charter and the extant system will ‘die the death of a dog’. As per a LiveLaw report, Yati Narsinghanand’s exact remarks, as excerpted in Nelli’s letter, were:

We have no trust in the Supreme Court of India and the Constitution. The Constitution will consume the 100 crore Hindus of this country. Those who believe in this Constitution will be killed. Those who believe in this system, in these politicians, in the Supreme Court and in the Army will all die the death of a dog.”

The said letter had also referred to another portion of the same interview where the right-wing leader, on the issue of the arrests made by the police in the case, had made derogatory remarks against the police by using a transphobic slur and said, “When Jitendra Singh Tyagi went by the name Wasim Rizvi and wrote his book, not a single policeman, not one of these ‘hijde’ policeman or politician had the courage to arrest him.”

Through the letter, Nelli had alleged that the comments made by Yati Narsinghanand sought to “undermine the majesty of the institution and the authority vested in the Supreme Court of India”, and was “a vile and clear attempt at interfering in the course of justice by means of abusive rhetoric and baseless attacks on the integrity of the Constitution and the courts”.

In the month of January only, the then attorney-general KK Venugopal, had granted consent to initiate contempt proceedings against Yati Narsinghanad over his remarks about the Supreme Court and the Constitution, noting that they were a direct attempt to lower the authority of the Supreme Court in the minds of the general public.

In October, 2022, while hearing the contempt petition filed by Nelli, the top court had sought the transcripts of the interview in which Narsinghanand had allegedly made the contentious remarks.

Extremist and serial hate monger Yati Narsinghanand, a so-called Hindu religious leader, has delivered another hate speech against the Muslim community in Dasna, Uttar Pradesh on June 18, 2023. Dasna Devi temple priest Yati Narsinghanand, who was the organiser of the December 2021 Haridwar ‘Dharam Sansad’  where calls were given for the genocide of Muslims, has continuously spread anti-Muslim hate through his speeches. He is a known serial hate offender, who openly supports acts of genocide and violence against Indian Muslims and strives to create an India sans Muslims. In his current speech, he made offensive statements targeting the Muslim community to garner support for his divisive mind set while announcing a ‘Hindu Bachao Morcha’.

The speech:

Video 1

“Hindu Bachao Morcha will be a part of every fight that is fought against Muslims. If any of the people working for us is killed anywhere, we will take revenge on their behalf. The organisation will not only take revenge, but we will also take care of the family of the man who dies. We will ensure that the man’s children are education, and the family have enough food and clothes.”

“In every nook and corner that one turn, there are calls being made to declare India as a Hindu nation. Every Hindu is demanding that this country becomes a Hindu nation. but, let me clarify, the way this country is working and the way things are going on, there is not even an ounce of a chance that it becomes a Hindu nation, rather we are quickly moving towards becoming an Islamic nation.”

“In the year 2029, the Prime Minister of India will be a Muslim. Maximum to maximum, you will be able to avoid this till 2024, but then, sure a Muslim will the PM. This will happen because you people do not have children at home, and have poop filled in your brains. My words might hurt you, but the kind of environment we are living in and the troubling times ahead, this is necessary.”

Video 2

“If any Hindu is killed, or a daughter of a Hindu gets trapped in Love-Jihad, or our temples are demolished, we have to ensure that our roar reverberates in the entire world- this is our target.”

“We are not just making an organisation, we are making a group.”

“We want to ensure that we speak up for the Hindus. We want to ensure that if a Hindu is killed in Gujarat by a Muslim, the Hindus sitting in America gets to know. If Yati Narsinghanand is killed in Dasna, the Hindus sitting in Bengal and Bangladesh should know. If any Hindu dies, it should be visible on every media platform.”

“The police, the government, the judiciary, the Home Minister, the Prime Minister, and even the Chief Minister is ours. Our motive is to speak out. When the Muzzaffarnagar riots had happened, the Muslims had killed in large numbers. And after that, half of those old men with long beards with sitting at Sonia Gandhi’s home, while the other half were sitting at (indiscernible), after having murdered Hindus. After this, the media had said that the Muslims were tortured and were victims, and this was also being shown to the entire world. The Hindus too believed that.”

“I urge you to all read Islam, if my words don’t sound true to you, do not come back to me then. I am a walking FIR. I have been in jail 33 times. I have never secured a second position in college, but I dedicated my life, 27 years, to this cause.”

“Only those who want to fight with me want to die with me, want to fight for Hindus are welcome here.”

In the second video, two members of the audience also gave a hate speech targeting Muslims, made calls for violence, reminded them of the Hindu united power which has resulted in the genocide of Muslims in the past too.

Unknown speaker: “We all should not be worried about dying at all, even if we die today, we will be born after 9 months from the womb of another mother. The day this fear leaves your mind, that very day, the only of you will be able to destroy a crowd of 500, as we had previously seen in the Maujpur riots. Even our Lord Krishna had said that only after the death does the real life starts.”

Unknown speaker: “Only formulating the morcha will not be of any help, we have to have experience and training to fight, and we have to remain ready to fight by hook or by crook, only then will Hindus be saved. We have to get out of our defensive mood and come into the attacking mood now.”

The videos can be viewed here:

Narsinghanand appears to have emerged from the trenches after the Uttarakhand Dharam Sansad case in 2021, with his same divisive ideology and communal diatribe, and is likely at full throttle with the general elections approaching. When he remarked that madrassas and Aligarh Muslim University should be blown up in September last year, he was arrested by the UP Police and has stayed quiet since then.

Last month, Yati Narsinghanand had gave an anti-Muslim speech at the Hindu Jagruti Sammelan in New Delhi on April 3, making venomous and insulting remarks against not only Muslims but also women, instilling fear among Hindus by driving the narrative of ‘Hindu Khatre me Hai’ (Hindus are in danger).

Yati Narsinghanand appeared at the Hindu Jagruti Sammelan held in New Delhi on April 3 and as is his expertise, made vitriolic and demeaning comments about not just Muslims but about women as well and instigated fear among Hindus by driving the narrative of ‘Hindu Khatre me Hai’ (Hindus are in danger).

This event took place in Holiday Inn, New Delhi in  the presence of many police officers, who were probably providing security for the event. At this event, Hate Offender Kajal Shingala aka Kajal Hindustani and a few other unknown faces appeared to make anti-Islamic speeches.

After the Uttarakhand Dharam Sansad case, Narsinghanand had somewhat gone under the burrows and now seems to have emerged again with the same diatribe and probably full throttle. In September last year, when he said that madrassas and Aligarh Muslim University should be blown up, he was booked by UP Police and had remained low key since then.

Extracts from Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati’s speech:

(Time stamp: 29.06 to 29.27)

What should I say about Gandhiji? Such great souls like him are rare who write the script of devastation of all human kind. And who can be greater than us? The man who is responsible for our annihilation, we declared him as the father of the nation.”

(Time stamp: 29.30 to 29.54)

Shaukat Ali and Mohammad Ali (Jouhar) went up to Gandhiji and said that one Muslim even if a thief, rapist, murderer, he would still be better than you because he is Muslim and you are kafir

He also said that don’t look at whether the person fighting the war is a nice person but admire his passion for fighting the jihadis.

(At Time stamp:  43.02)

He said, “Now has come the time to unite the  entire world against Islam and its jihad.”

(At Time stamp: 44.18)

We have to take over the temple in Mecca as well where Mahadev’s Ganga flows as Zamzam (river). He then went on to call the supposed temple in Mecca as “Mecceshwar Mahadev”.

(Time stamp: 51.18.- 51.40)

In those regions where you are living, more than 50% women are in the clutches of Muslims. Don’t know from where he is earning money and these women are also giving their money to them

(At Time stamp: 51.57)

If you follow this solution I am telling you, your (woman) will not go anywhere and you can keep one of theirs (Muslim women) as well with you… you cannot remove women from your life. Whether she is Sankini, Dankini, Rashini or Yashini, we need to keep them all in our army.

The Dasna Devi Temple priest and Hate Offender Yati Narsinghanand who had shared a video, earlier this week, claiming to visit Jama Masjid in Delhi on June 17, is now under house arrest.

In the hate instigating video, he claimed that he wanted to show Muslims what the Quran and Islamic history say about Prophet Muhammad. He said, in the video, “We are not lying. We are only stating what has already been written in their books… The way these people (Muslims) are spreading jihad meaning Islamic Terrorism is inspired by their books!” He further adds, “It is so shameful that this country has become a slave to Islam… people may have accepted it but it is not acceptable to me. I know they will kill me if I go there, but it is better to die rather than living with so much disrespect.”

He expressed support for BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma who has been suspended for making remarks against Prophet Muhammad on a News channel debate show.

The video maybe viewed here:

On Monday, UP’s Ghaziabad administration issued notice to Yati Narsinghanand at his residence at Dasna Devi Temple, asking him to cancel the visit to Jama Masjid stating that it could disturb communal harmony. The administration even warned him of legal action if such offensive and hate instigating statements were made that could disturb communal harmony.

The notice may be viewed here:

Yati Narsinghanand

This is not the first time Yati Narsinghanand has made the news for his offensive remarks. Recently in an interview, with respect to the treatment given to Uyghur Muslims in China, he said, “We must learn from China. They have claimed Islam to be a mental illness. I completely support this. We need to save our country from becoming an Islamic nation. The rate at which Muslim population is growing, it may so happen that Hindus have nowhere to go.”

The video maybe viewed here:

It is pertinent to note that Yati Narsinghanand was in judicial custody for two cases; the first was for making calls for genocide at the Haridwar Dharam Sansad (December 2021), and the second was for making alleged offensive and derogatory remarks on Muslim women. He was granted bail in the former by the Sessions court and the same judge granted him bail in the case where he made derogatory remarks against Muslim women and that too on similar grounds.

In the case of remarks made against Muslim women, Narsinghanand had made objectionable/derogatory and indecent comments on social media directed towards them. After his comments went viral on social media, there was widespread condemnation. Subsequently, he was charged under Section 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) and Section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

It may also be recalled that the controversial priest had by then already secured bail in the Haridwar Dharma Sansad case, where he along with others had allegedly issued calls for Muslim genocide. After being charged under Section 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) and 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) of the IPC, he was granted bail on February 7 by judge Bharat Bhushan Pandey of the Haridwar Sessions Court.

Then again in April, an FIR was registered against him, who raised hate speeches along with other speakers in violation of his bail conditions, at a “Hindu Mahapanchayat” held in Delhi on Sunday, April 3, 2022. This hate speech was peppered with fake claims such as “50% of Hindus will convert in 20 years if a Muslim becomes the prime minister of the country” and calling Hindus to “take up arms”.

Thereafter, another video surfaced online where Yati was once again spotted targeting Hindu women and men for not having enough children. In the said video, he called single children “insects and worms”, and said men who father only one child “are not men, they are a burden on earth.” However he had saved the worst for women, saying they were “not doing the work of mothers, you are doing the work of serpents.”

Serial hate speech maker Yati Narasinghanand has once again targetted Hindu women and men for not having enough children. He called single childem “insects and worms”, and said men who father only one child “are not men, they are a burden on earth”. However he had saved the worst for women, saying they were “not doing the work of mothers, you are doing the work of serpents.”

In a video widely shared online, Narasinghanand says, “What does Maa Kali do? If her child is in danger, she beheads the enemy and drinks the blood from his neck. And what does the serpent do? She eats her own children. Today I want to say with great sadness, my mothers, sisters and daughters, you are not doing Maa Kali’s work. You are doing the work of a serpent.”

He then tells them they were Kafirs according to his reading of the Quran, and told the women in the audience that “rape was a religious” virtue according to the holy book. Narasinghanand also did some publicity for The Kashmir Files and told the women it speaks of rape too.

It is not known where and when the speech in these latest videos shared online where he spews women against Hindu women and men, are from.

According to a report in Jansatta, recently, the saffron clad hate speech maker had given an anti-Muslim speech in Una, Himachal Pradesh and had been warned by the local police not to do so. He was speaking at yet another ‘Dharma Sansad’ of Akhil Bharatiya Sant Parishad in Una district, and repeated his imaginary theory of an “increasing population of Muslims in the country” and that this was “indicating the decline of Hindus. Once again, Yati, a ‘monk’ therefore celibate, and with no children, said “Hindus should produce more children to protect their family and Sanatan Dharma.”

Yati, who is out on bail, has reportedly already violated bail conditions, with his repeated calls for communal violence, earlier this month at the ‘Hindu Mahapanchayat’ held in Delhi.

A First Information Report (FIR) was then registered against Yati Narsinghanand and other speakers who raised hate speeches at a “Hindu Mahapanchayat” held in Delhi on, April 3, 2022. This hate speech was peppered with fake claims such as “50% of Hindus will convert in 20 years if a Muslim becomes the prime minister of the country” and calling Hindus to “take up arms”. Narsinghanand, told his followers to “take up arms”. Narsinghanand, who heads the Dasna Devi temple in Uttar Pradesh, is currently out on bail granted by the Haridwar Sessions Court.

He got bail within 30 days of his arrest in Haridwar Hate Speech case in which he explicitly asked Hindus to buy advanced weapons to k!ll Muslims, videos of which are publicly available. pic.twitter.com/yu79c6IFFj

YatiNarsinghanand, who leads the powerful Dasna Devi temple in Uttar Pradesh, was granted bail by the Haridwar SessionsCourt in a case registered against him for his alleged offensive and derogatory remarks on Muslim women. It is pertinent to note that he was in judicial custody for two cases; the first was for making calls for genocide at the HaridwarDharamSansad9December 2021) and the other is the current case. He was granted bail in the former by the Sessions court and the same judge has granted him bail in this case where he has made derogatory remarks against Muslim women and that too on similar grounds.

In the case on hand, Narsinghanand had made objectionable/ derogatory and indecent comments on social media that were directed towards the Muslim women.

Narsinghanand was seen on the video saying that, “the Muslims have captured everything, that they (Muslims) have joined BhartiyaJanta Party (BJP), that they (Muslims) have captured RashtriyaSwayamsevakSangh (RSS) and for the service of Islam, their women can act as the mistresses of any one and that they (Women) are their greatest strength”.Pursuant to the registration of FIR, he was in judicial Custody since January 16. He thereafter his bail plea before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Haridwar.

The bail plea was rejected by CJM Mukesh Arya on January 19, stating that,

Despite being issued a Section 41A CrPC notice [notice of appearance before a police officer] in the past, he (Narsinghanand) is repeatedly making comments to incite communal passions and spoiling harmony/atmosphere through social media and there is a strong possibility of serious crimes being committed in the area.”

Narsinghanandthen approached the Additional Sessions and District Court, Haridwar against the bail order delivered by CJM, Haridwar. In the order passed by Sessions Judge on Bail plea of Narsinghanand, the Additional Sessions and District Judge Bharat Bhushan Pandey ordered his release on February 15, overturning the earlier judgement delivered by the Court of the CJM, Haridwar, on January 19 where he was denied bail.

Justice Bhushan Pandey granted Narsinghanand bail noting that the offenses reported to have been committed by him are punishable up to 3 years of imprisonment and also the past criminal cases are not yet proven and the cases are under trial. Hence the Court granted the bail to YatiNarsinghanand. The Sessions Court had allowed bail application, subject to furnishing two sureties of Rs 50,000 and a personal bond of the same amount. The bail has been granted to Narsinghanand with certain conditions:

The Court has asked him to take undertaking in front of magistrate Court about not repeating any of such similar acts, he is been charged for, in future.

  • Narsinghanand will also have to respond to summons by the investigating officer in the case.
  • Narsinghanand will not intimidate the witnesses in the case directly or indirectly
  • Narsinghanand will not go to abroad without the Court’s permission, and is directed to submit the passport, if any, to the investigating authority.

Dharma Sansad Case

It may also be recalled that the controversial priest had already secured bail in the Haridwar Dharma Sansad case, where he along with others had allegedly issued calls for Muslim genocide. The Sessions Court had allowed bail application in that case, subject to furnishing two sureties of Rs 50,000 and a personal bond of the same amount.

Jail is exception, bail is rule

The Bail Provision Under Criminal Procedure Code, 1973 states in section 437(1)(ii) that, “…. A person shall not be released if such offence is cognizable offence (an offence for which a police officer may arrest without warrant) and had previously convicted of an offence on two or more occasions of a cognizable offence punishable with three years or more….”

The reasons noted down while allowing the bail that the punishment is up to 3 years is somewhere contradicting the above mentioned legal provision which might have been overlooked by the Court. Also there is report of the person doing the same act repeatedly which should have been taken seriously by the Court. The country has already witnessed the repercussions of hate speeches that have culminated into communal violence in the past such as the 2002 Gujarat riots, the Muzaffarnagar riots and so on. The courts while making certain decisions need to be cognizant of the history while granting bail in such serious offences, especially when it comes to repeat offenders..

Young Activists, SagarGorkhe, Ramesh Gaichor and JyotiJagtap were arrested and taken into physical custody in a two-year old case.Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami was held over a 2018 abetment-to-suicide charge. The treatment meted to the two in the hands of the judiciary was starkly different. While Goswami’s case was listed for urgent hearing right up to the apex court and he was released on bail within six days, the Kabir Kala Manch activists have been struggling to get a single proper hearing before the Bombay high court. Activists and journalists arrested in the past years have struggled either in securing regular hearings, or in having their basic human rights protected, or both while offenders like YatiNarsinghanand and MilindEkbote (accused in BhimaKoregaon riots) continue to roam scot free on bail.

Yati Narsinghnand handing over a 10-year-old boy to the police

The recent incident of Yati Narsinghnand handing over a 10-year-old boy to the police for questioning brings back chilling memories of when a 14-year-old Muslim boy was beaten up by Narsinghanand’s disciples in the Dasna temple premises for fetching water.

There was a call for action against him then, and in many instances that followed thereafter, but Narsinghanand remains a free man, spreading communal hate with impunity. In fact, he receives the protection, reportedly, of over 50 policemen as he claims there is a conspiracy being hatched to eliminate him.

One cannot imagine the atmosphere of palpable fear that his actions must have created in the Dasna area and the areas surrounding it.

This time around, he “caught” a 10-year-old Muslim boy who accidently landed in the temple premises, being new to the area and also, most importantly, being too young to understand the religious identity he was born into, and its consequences in a BJP ruled state.

The boy told police that he had come to the area to visit his pregnant sister-in-law admitted to the community health centre (CHC) adjacent to the temple, reported The Wire. The police say that they let him go after verifying the veracity of his statements.

Yati has released a video in which he claims, “Ye hamle ki tayari hai (this is in preparation of an attack)”. He further claims that the minor boy came to the temple to conduct a “recce” and states that “nobody has slapped the boy or anything”. In the video a cop can be seen holding the boy’s hand. The comments on this post on Instagram are as vile as it can get.

SabrangIndia’s India’s sister organization, Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP) has complained to Commissions and authorities multiple times against Narsinghanand, but to no avail.

Yati Narsinghanand has a history of inciting Hindus against the Muslim community and he has multiple disciples, who follow in the path so clearly paved by him, to spread the hatred in wider circuits. Shringi Yadav, Vikas Sehrawat, Kunal Sharma, Sukhdev Sahdev and Rambhagat Gopal are a few of his disciples who get in trouble with the law every now and then such as the infamous, derogatory and shameful “sulli deals” where Muslim women’s pictures were put up to auction them off; Gopal was involved in shooting at the Jamia Milia Islamia University in January 2020 and so on.
